This is the first entry in my new blog. For those just tuning in, blog is shorthand for weblog or simply an online log or journal of random things written by random people. I started this blog to give me a place to put down thoughts and commentary on things I run across each day but moreso to put up random images from my photography as I roam around.

After several days of trudging through the installation documentation, I finally got the code behind this site up and running. This blog is powered by an application called Movable Type, which makes “blogging” a much easier task and allows entries to be categorized, archived, tracked and commented on by viewers (like you). It also supports image posting. So the idea is that it eliminates the usual burden of having to build, design and maintain an entire website backend that sucks up all your time leaving you without any time or interest to actually write and post creative content on it. I’ll continue to customize the look and feel as I find the time
I’m still working out some of the options on this site, like how people can actually register and post comments so if things don’t seem to be working correctly, be patient.

September 22nd (next Wednesday!) I move from Seattle, where I’ve been mostly living since 1997, to San Diego. Along the way my camera is going to be glued to my hand and my hope is that I’ll keep this blog up-to-date, if not by writing in it then by at least posting pictures that will tell the story.
