Open Road

A few months ago I purchased a used Bianchi road bike that my friend Chase found at a yard sale in Seattle. It cost me $125 bucks, which is crazy considering the type of bike it is and the fact that even just the components and pedals are worth much more then that alone. It is by far one of the best purchases I’ve made in a damn long time. So Saturday we headed up to Blacks beach, north of La Jolla (see glider port & cliff pictures in photo gallery). I loaded up my bike onto Dylan’s car so I could get in some biking while up there. It was great. I put my headphones on and took off on my own north along the coast. I rode up to just north of Del Mar. I went across the high plateau of Torrey Pines State Park, which borders the University of California, San Diego on the cliffs, down the other side and then along the road on the Pacific Ocean. The views were perfect and I passed 2 or 3 little cove beaches along the way packed with people and surfers. It was a nice change from the urban hills of Seattle. I need to find a little cheap camera that I can take with me on trips. Roundtrip I did just under 30 miles. I need to get out and ride more often; it’s good for the mind.
