You’d think there would be more going on for a Memorial Day holiday weekend, but it’s pretty tame. Maybe it’s just tame in comparison to the previous weekends of the last month or so. Last night we just did an abbreviated version of the bar loop, heading to Bourbon Street and then to Rich’s to dance for a little bit. Today we are headed to a pool party at a friend’s house, which usually proves to be quite reckless (alcohol+hottub+half naked people). I’m always leary of taking or posting any pictures from those parties because I don’t really want any evidence that I was actually there. No, it actually ends up being a good time.

This weekend our friend Tyler is in Colorado. He’ll probably read this so I’ll say we miss him terribly! ;) He gets back tomorrow though and Monday is a holiday, so WATCH OUT HAMBURGER MARY’S!

I took the picture below several weeks ago but I liked it and I thought it was a good depiction of how I feel this weekend. It’s just one of those weekends when you just want to lay down in the grass and take a nap.

Lastly, as a veteran myself, on this Memorial Day, take a moment and remember those who died in the service of our country. Also say a prayer for those who continue to serve and fight around the world.

In a poem by Moina Michael, she wrote,

We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.
