If you run your own website and are interested in getting better rankings in Google (as most people are) then here is a cool new service that Google recently launched. It’s called Google Sitemaps and bascially allows you to create a sitemap and submit it to them for indexing into their search engine. This is a great way to fast-track the spidering of your site content. As always, Google doesn’t guarantee inclusion of your site or your content, but this is definitely a no brainer on getting your pages looked at. There are a couple of ways to submit a sitemap to Google: their recommended format is XML but you can also submit a text file with a single URL in each line. They also offer a Sitemap Generator script, but you need to be familiar with uploading and executing scripts on your web server before diving into that.

Google is one of the hardest nuts to crack in the search engine world so this is definitely a helpful tool. And as with most Google Beta launches, it’s free.
