If you’re seeing this entry, then you are looking at the new version of Jpatrickm.com. This whole week I have been migrating all of my sites and my client’s sites over to a new hosting server. It’s been quite an intensive project. I figured while I was at it, I might as well switch Jpatrickm over from Movable Type to WordPress. WordPress comes with built in scripts to import all of the Movable Type entries and comments so it’s actually a pretty quick process. The most difficult part is just moving all of the design settings over because the CSS style sheets are not compatible and need to be modified from scratch. I’ve spent considerable time using both Movable Type and WordPress and for the past year or so I have maintained several blogs on each platform. My preference, however, has slowly shifted over to WordPress as my top choice for blog software. I have several reasons, which I may write about later in a different post. I’m sure there are many people with many opinions on blog software but for me I just think WordPress is a better fit. It’s also the platform I recommend to my clients and is much much quicker and easier for me to get them up and running. If anyone has any questions on these blog applications or on getting your own blog setup, feel free to shoot a note.

Anyway, over the next week or so, I will shift the design to one that more closely resembles the old version. I really like the colors and layout of this Firefox template so I figured it would be a good placeholder for now while I integrate the two designs.
