The pixel wars have started. A 21 year old college student from England launched a new website called www.milliondollarhomepage.com. It’s a brilliant idea and basically involves selling individual pixels on a webpage as advertising space. The minimum ad buy is 10 x 10 pixels. His goal is to reach $1 million and he’s already at $961,300 (at the time of this post). His idea has been all over the media this week so I’m sure he’ll reach his goal. He started the site to earn money for college but he’s far exceeded that. The only thing he’s bought so far is a brand new Mini Cooper, since he just got his license.
 
I’m thinking about starting a similar site for my art advertisers off SeattleArtists.com. I actually think, aside from the revenue it generates, the site looks really cool as a sort-of collage of different pixel graphics. It’s also a steal for the advertisers as far as ad prices go. $100 bucks for a 10 x 10 ad is pretty cheap these days.
