On the road making a surprise trip to New Hampshire to hang with the family for the weekend. Took a direct red eye from San Diego on Jet Blue… I love that airline.

Here are a few shots I took from my new iPhone. I am pretty impressed with the quality. The camera isn’t a very high megapixel but it does seem to capture the available light really well. The pictures below were edited slightly in Picassa to increase the contrast a bit. And obviously the surfers on the beach shot was cropped and converted to black & white with selective color for fun.

Here is a shot of Stone Steps, a remote but popular surf spot in Encinitas, CA. This is literally 2 blocks from the back door of my new office. It’s such a beautiful spot.

iphone I finally gave in to the pressure and bought the coveted iPhone. After everyone I know, barring one, bought the iPhone, I found myself surrounded by little iPhone evangelists, constantly waving it in my face and spewing off useless facts from Wikipedia and random other websites that people only visit to see how cool the iPhone looks in the Safari browser. But within hours of my purchase I was in love… at least in lust. The hype is not overrated. It actually is the coolest cell phone to hit the market. Unless you are just some negative-Nancy who despises all technology, then you can’t help but love this thing.

The features that I’ve found to be the best are: the cool threaded visual text messaging, visual voicemail (a business time lifesaver), the Safari browser that works on every damn website (except flash) and just the overall usability and navigation, not to mention the bright display. Everything just looks cool. Combined with the unlimited data plan and quick access to multiple email accounts, and I can stay up-to-date on work related things much quicker then I could before. Am I overdoing it? A week ago I would have said, Oh stuff it, it’s a phone, get over it… but whatever… it’s a sweet device.

The other unintended consequences of this new phone is that is has a pretty decent camera built in along with unlimited data and really easy-to-use email integration. That equals easy mobile blogging and photo-blogging. Will that actually translate to more posts? Who knows, but I like the idea of it anyway. The usual limitations of accessing blogging admin screens or Flickr or other blogging tools on a portable cell phone browser are just gone.

If you’re on the fence about getting one… just do it. You’ll experience buyer’s remorse for only about the time it takes to plug the iPhone into iTunes… after that you’ll be iAddicted.
