Just a quick post to say that I’m not in the path of any fires or in any danger of being affected. A few friends and family had trouble getting through on the phone so I figured I’d just make a quick note here. I live in the North Park area of San Diego, which is very close to downtown and is just about in the center of both the fires in the north and those in the south - about 20 minutes from each. There isn’t any threat of any fires getting near here and the evacuation center at Qualcom stadium is just down the road from me. The air is full of smoke and the sky is dark orange and it’s very creepy. We’ve all been out of work but yesterday when I attempted to drive in at 9:30am, it was like night with ash blowing across the roads, the streetlights were on and the sun was an erie orange glow. I took a few pictures but they didn’t come out very well. I’ll post them later if they look decent.
So anyway, my thoughts go out to all those in the area that were affected or lost their homes and property. Currently about 1750 homes have burned to the ground. It’s a very sad state of affairs here.
